La última carga

El capitán Nolan, procedente de la India, se incorpora al regimiento de Lord Cardigan. Considerado un oficial de inferior categoría por sus compañeros, Nolan mantendrá continuos enfrentamientos con Lord Cardigan a causa de su despótica actitud. En la guerra de Crimea (1854-1856), en pleno asedio de Sebastopol, tendrá lugar una terrible batalla.

La mirada de Tony Richardson a los hechos está lejos de las consideraciones heroicas y más cerca del cinismo al mostrar a unos oficiales inexpertos que se dejan dominar por los celos. En el reparto, muy 'british', destaca el trabajo de sir John Gielgud, que encarna a un oficial algo senil.

A chronicle of events that led to the British involvement in the Crimean War against Russia and which led to the siege of Sevastopol and the fierce Battle of Balaclava on October 25, 1854 which climaxed with the heroic, but near-disastrous calvary charge made by the British Light Brigade against a Russian artillery battery in a small valley which resulted in the near-destruction of the brigade due to error of judgement and rash planning on part by the inept British commanders.
